Former Plant Store Owner in Cleveland Faces Health Crisis Due to Mold Exposure
Lori Switaj, the former owner of Pots and Plants in Ohio City, Cleveland, has been forced to sell her business due to a severe health condition linked to mold exposure. Switaj, who initially opened the store to pursue a passion for plants inherited from her mother, began experiencing recurrent pneumonia and respiratory issues. After consulting with medical professionals, she was diagnosed with allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA), a condition caused by an allergic reaction to mold spores. This diagnosis led her to sell the store, as continued exposure to the mold present in the plants was detrimental to her health. Despite the challenges, Switaj is expected to make a full recovery, although she must avoid environments with high mold exposure.
