Upper Valley SAFE Initiative Hosts Workshop on Children's Online Safety in Rexburg
The Upper Valley SAFE Initiative is organizing a free workshop focused on children's online safety, scheduled for April 25 in Rexburg. The event aims to bridge the gap between the digital challenges children face and the awareness of adults. Dean Coleman, co-founder of the initiative, emphasizes that many parents are not disengaged but rather uninformed about the digital risks their children encounter. The workshop will feature a keynote speech by Scott Pope titled 'The Anxious Generation: Finding Joy & Connection in a Screen-Saturated World,' followed by four mini-workshops. These sessions will cover topics such as current issues faced by school resource officers, approaches to situations where children have encountered inappropriate content, safeguarding devices and networks, and a curriculum for elementary-aged children on digital safety.
