Indonesia Notifies WTO of Formal Halal Requirements for Genetically Modified Food Imports
Indonesia's Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH) has submitted a 21-page draft decree to the World Trade Organization (WTO), outlining formal halal requirements for genetically modified (GM) food imports. This move signifies Indonesia's commitment to ensuring the halal quality of all food products within its ecosystem. The decree details the implementation of the Halal Product Assurance System (SJPH) for Genetically Modified Products, which will cover the entire production chain, from ingredients and processing to storage, distribution, and presentation to consumers.
