Cyberattack Disrupts Operations at North Carolina's Three Ports
North Carolina Ports, which manages the state's two deepwater ports and a large inland facility, has been targeted by a cyberattack. The attack, detected on August 4, 2026, has caused operational delays at the Port of Wilmington, the Port of Morehead City, and the Charlotte Inland Port. The ports authority has implemented its Cybersecurity Contingency Plan and is in the process of recovery. While the breach has been contained, it remains unclear if any sensitive data was compromised. The ports are crucial for regional trade, handling millions of tons of cargo annually.
