National Weather Service Confirms Tornadoes in Ohio and Kentucky, Conducts Damage Surveys
The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed that two tornadoes touched down in the Cincinnati region during a storm on July 21. One tornado struck Pierce Township in Clermont County, Ohio, while the second hit Owen County, Kentucky. The tornado in Clermont County was unofficially classified as an EF1, and no injuries were reported. The NWS is conducting additional damage surveys in other counties in Ohio and Kentucky to assess the storm's impact. These surveys help determine if the damage was caused by a tornado or straight-line winds and to rate the tornado's strength. The NWS uses a GIS-based app to log geotagged damage points and aims to document the most significant damage and its location.
