Philanthropist Grace Nordhoff Purchases Historic Cape Cod Property for Writers' Retreat
Grace Nordhoff, a philanthropist and retired restaurateur, has purchased The Colony of Wellfleet, a historic resort on Cape Cod, for $3.6 million. The property, known for its Bauhaus-style cottages, was previously owned by Jeffrey and Mihae Stefani. Nordhoff plans to transform the site into a nonprofit retreat for writers and playwrights, set to open in 2027. The Colony, which has hosted notable figures like Paul Newman and Faye Dunaway, will continue its legacy as a creative haven. Nordhoff's mother, Nancy Skinner Nordhoff, co-founded a similar retreat for women writers, inspiring this new venture.
