Brazil Seeks Dismissal of U.S. Lawsuit Against Minister Moraes
The Brazilian government has requested the U.S. judiciary to dismiss a lawsuit filed by Rumble and Trump Media against Alexandre de Moraes, a minister of Brazil's Supreme Federal Court. The lawsuit, filed in Florida, accuses Moraes of illegal censorship against right-wing Brazilian users on Rumble, a platform used by Trump Media's Truth Social. The Brazilian government argues that the lawsuit targets the state itself, invoking the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act, which protects foreign states from U.S. court jurisdiction. The Brazilian authorities assert that Moraes' actions were within his official capacity and were validated by the Supreme Court's presidency.
