Longwood University Vice Rector David Rose Establishes Endowed Professorship in Chemistry Honoring Grandparents
David Rose, Vice Rector of Longwood University's Board of Visitors, along with his wife Linda, has established the Abraham and Shirley Honig Endowed Professor of Chemistry. This new endowed professorship is part of Longwood's broader initiative to fund scholarly work for faculty members. The endowment aims to provide additional resources to chemistry faculty, thereby enhancing the academic experience for students and expanding the university's contributions to academic discourse. Rose's decision to establish this professorship is a tribute to his maternal grandparents, Abraham and Shirley Honig, who, despite not holding college degrees themselves, strongly emphasized the value of higher education to their children, including Rose's mother, Rochelle.
