Private Company Stardust Solutions Proposes Geoengineering to Combat Climate Change
Stardust Solutions, an American-Israeli company, is advancing plans to develop a solar-reflecting system aimed at cooling the planet by dimming the sun. This geoengineering approach, known as solar-radiation modification (SRM), has raised concerns among scientists and environmentalists due to potential environmental and security risks. Stardust has raised $60 million to support its research and is preparing to release documents outlining its guiding principles and framework for safe deployment. The company emphasizes that its current focus is on research and development, not deployment, and aims to contribute to informed decision-making on SRM by governments.
