Sangamon County Animal Control Adoption Center Seeks Community Assistance Amid Full Shelters
The Sangamon County Animal Control & Adoption Center (SCAC) in Springfield, Illinois, is currently at full capacity and is appealing to the community for help. The center is urging residents to consider adopting or fostering cats directly from SCAC or through local rescue organizations like the Animal Protective League, which frequently takes animals from SCAC. Many cats are available for adoption, all of whom are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated according to their age. To encourage adoptions, Sangamon County is offering a discounted adoption fee of $35 per cat. The center also recommends adopting two cats, citing benefits such as increased joy for the adopters and providing the cats with a lifelong playmate and snuggle buddy, which can reduce anxiety and boredom for the animals. The Meow Mobile initiative is also highlighted as a resource for adoption and volunteering.
