Passenger Arrested for Damaging Passport Scanner at Bangkok Airport
A Chinese passenger named Zheng Liwei was arrested at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok after damaging an automated passport scanner. The incident occurred when Zheng attempted to pass through the checkpoint by mistakenly scanning his plane ticket instead of his passport. Frustrated by the machine's failure to open, Zheng kicked and damaged the scanner, setting off alarms. Security personnel intervened and detained him. Zheng faces charges of property damage and insulting officials, which could result in a prison sentence, fines, and deportation. His actions have led to the revocation of his visa and a potential lifetime travel ban from Thailand.
