Ukraine's Foreign Minister Highlights Cyber Resilience After Russian Attack on KyivStar
Ukraine's largest mobile operator, KyivStar, experienced a significant outage in December 2023 due to a cyberattack attributed to Russian actors. The attack penetrated the core of KyivStar's network through the account of a single employee, causing a temporary shutdown. However, the company managed to restore its systems within days, showcasing its resilience. Ukraine's Foreign Minister, Kuleba, credited this rapid recovery to a pre-planned resilience strategy adopted by both the government and businesses in Ukraine. This approach has reportedly minimized the success of subsequent cyberattacks.
