U.S. Army Major Charged with Supporting Cameroonian Separatists
A U.S. Army major, Kenneth Chungag, stationed at Fort Belvoir in Virginia, has been charged with conspiring to provide support to separatist fighters in Cameroon. Chungag, a naturalized U.S. citizen originally from Cameroon, allegedly used his military experience to assist the Ambazonia Defense Forces (ADF), a separatist group. He is accused of planning to transfer funds for purchasing weapons and has been charged alongside Mercy Akwi Ombaku, another U.S. citizen. Both were released after initial court appearances, and the case highlights the complexities of dual loyalties and international conflicts.
