European Health Insurance Card Ensures Medical Care for Travelers in EU
The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) provides travelers within the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, and the UK with access to necessary and urgent medical care. The card covers chronic or existing illnesses, as well as pregnancy and childbirth, under the same conditions as residents of the country being visited. However, it is not a substitute for travel insurance and does not cover private healthcare costs or planned treatments. The EHIC allows travelers to receive healthcare services from public and participating facilities, with the possibility of reimbursement for incurred costs.
