Exoskeleton Technology Enables Children with Cerebral Palsy to Walk
Trexo Robotics has introduced a motorized, wearable exoskeleton that is helping children with cerebral palsy and other mobility impairments to walk. The technology was recently trialed in the UK, where it enabled 15-year-old Brooke Hacker from Sketty, Swansea, to walk 812 steps for the first time. The exoskeleton is adjustable to a child's height and needs, providing support that conventional therapy alone cannot offer. Brooke's family, along with others, are advocating for wider availability of this technology, which costs approximately £50,000. The exoskeleton is designed to assist children with conditions such as cerebral palsy, spinal muscular atrophy, and muscular dystrophy.
