Explosion at Rotterdam Port Kills One, Injures Several; Investigation Underway
An explosion at a petroleum storage facility in the Netherlands' Rotterdam Port resulted in one fatality and several injuries. The cause of the explosion is currently unknown, and authorities are investigating all possible scenarios. The incident occurred during maintenance work on a storage tank, according to a spokesperson for Gunvor, the energy commodities trading company involved. Rotterdam Port, Europe's largest, hosts major energy companies like Shell, Exxon Mobil, and BP. Despite the explosion, LNG terminals were unaffected, and Shell's operations continued as normal.
