Senator Ben Ray Luján Supports New Mexico Fusion Facility Groundbreaking to Advance U.S. Energy and National Security
Senator Ben Ray Luján, a New Mexico Democrat, participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for Pacific Fusion's new facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This event marks a significant step in the development of fusion energy technology within the United States. The facility is intended to be the site of Pacific Fusion's first fusion system. Alongside the groundbreaking, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was announced with the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). This MOU focuses on collaboration in high-yield fusion, high-energy-density science, and related technical areas. The initiative is seen as crucial for America to maintain its leadership in advanced energy and defense applications, especially given reports of other nations investing heavily in next-generation fusion technologies.
