Ohio Statewide Burn Ban Lifted, Caution Still Advised
Ohio's statewide burn ban, which is typically enforced during the dry spring and fall seasons, has officially been lifted. The ban is in place annually from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. during March, April, and May, as well as in the fall, to mitigate wildfire risks. These periods are marked by dry grass, weeds, and leaves, which can easily ignite and spread fires, especially under gusty winds and low humidity. Despite the lifting of the ban, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Forestry urges residents to remain cautious when burning debris outdoors. Local restrictions may still apply, as county-specific bans issued by the Ohio State Fire Marshal take precedence over the statewide policy.
