NCTV17's 'Spotlight' Celebrates 25 Years of Showcasing Naperville Nonprofits
NCTV17's program 'Spotlight' is commemorating its 25th anniversary, having consistently highlighted the work of nonprofit organizations in Naperville. The show, which premiered on September 21, 2001, has evolved in format over the years but maintained its core mission of showcasing organizations that contribute to making Naperville a better place. Current host Joy Kleinhans recently invited former hosts Jane Wernette, who is also the executive director of NCTV17, and Nancy Wiersum to reflect on the show's history. 'Spotlight' initially aired live with a less structured format, with Kandice Hernandez as the first host. Nancy Wiersum later took over, interviewing six organizations monthly. When Jane Wernette became host in 2014, the format shifted to pre-recorded, two half-hour segments, but the dedication to featuring Naperville's diverse nonprofit sector remained constant.
