ResiLog Project Develops Roadmap for Supply Chain Resilience in Suez Canal Region
The ResiLog project, led by Dr. Amr Mahfouz at Maynooth University's School of Business, has developed a Supply Chain Resilience Roadmap to help businesses and policymakers better anticipate and recover from disruptions in global trade routes. This initiative was prompted by the 2024 disruptions in the Bab-el-Mandeb corridor, which affected the Suez Canal, a critical trade artery. The project involved real-time collaboration with industry partners, capturing resilience strategies used by shipping lines, manufacturers, ports, and government authorities. The roadmap provides actionable guidance based on these experiences. A key outcome of the project is a formal research partnership between Maynooth University and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport in Egypt, which has led to a second phase of research to further advance supply chain resilience.
