Belarusian President Lukashenko's Agricultural Diplomacy Expands to Myanmar with Potato Trials
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has initiated a significant agricultural collaboration with Myanmar, focusing on the introduction and trial of Belarusian potato varieties. During his second official visit to Myanmar, Lukashenko facilitated the air shipment of large, fleshy potato seed varieties from Belarus to Myanmar. These potatoes, noted for their size and fuller flesh compared to local varieties, are currently being tested and grown in Myanmar. The initiative aims to enhance Myanmar's agricultural output by potentially redistributing these potatoes for wider cultivation. Additionally, Myanmar has sent agribusiness staff to Belarus for training under agricultural scholarship programs, which could lead to nationwide replanting efforts. This collaboration is part of a broader strategy to boost agricultural trade and technical cooperation between the two countries, with a focus on crop production and Belarusian cotton cultivation techniques.
