Israeli Study Finds MDMA-Assisted Therapy Reduces PTSD in Soldiers
A recent study conducted at Clalit Health Services’ Emek Medical Center in Israel has found that MDMA-assisted psychotherapy significantly reduces symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in soldiers. Approximately 80% of participants experienced symptom reduction, with many no longer meeting the diagnostic criteria for PTSD after treatment. The study involved 13 sessions of intensive psychotherapy, including three sessions where MDMA was administered under medical supervision. The therapy aims to help patients engage with traumatic memories while maintaining emotional regulation and psychological safety. Despite its promising results, MDMA is not yet approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for medical use.
