Union Pacific's Big Boy Steam Locomotive Embarks on Historic Northeast Tour for America's 250th Anniversary
Union Pacific's Big Boy No. 4014, the world's largest operating steam locomotive, is set to tour the Northeast for the first time as part of a coast-to-coast journey celebrating America's 250th anniversary. The tour, in collaboration with Norfolk Southern, includes major display events in eight cities and over 50 whistle-stops across 10 states, marking a historic collaboration between two of the nation's storied railroads. The eastern leg of the tour will operate across the Norfolk Southern network, bringing the locomotive to communities that played a significant role in America's industrial rise. The tour commenced on April 10 from Sacramento, California, and will feature public display days and ticketed events, allowing rail fans to witness this historic machine in action.
