Baby Expected to Recover After Rollover Crash on I-77 in Ohio; Grandmother and Mother Cited
A baby is expected to recover after being ejected from a vehicle during a rollover crash on I-77 just south of New Philadelphia, Ohio. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning around 8:10 a.m. when a 51-year-old Cleveland-area grandmother, who was driving northbound, reportedly fell asleep at the wheel. Her 26-year-old daughter, who was unbuckled and holding the two-month-old infant, had switched seats with her mother to feed the child. The crash caused a vehicle window to break, and the baby landed outside the car. The infant was subsequently flown to Akron Children’s Hospital for overnight observation and is anticipated to be in good condition. Both women involved in the crash were transported to Canton hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. The Ohio State Highway Patrol New Philadelphia Post cited the grandmother for driving without a license, child restraint violations, and child endangerment.
