Arizona and Oklahoma Residents Advised to Limit Driving Due to Air Pollution Concerns
Residents in Arizona and Oklahoma have been advised to limit driving on Friday due to high levels of air pollution. The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality issued an ozone high pollution advisory for the Phoenix Metropolitan Area, while the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality issued an air quality alert for ozone in the Oklahoma City and Lawton areas. The National Weather Service warned that sensitive groups, including children, seniors, and individuals with pre-existing respiratory or heart conditions, might experience health effects due to poor air quality. Residents are encouraged to carpool, telecommute, or use mass transit, and to reduce the use of gasoline-powered equipment.
