Wrestling Community Rallies Around Tanea Brooks Following ALS Diagnosis
Tanea Brooks, known in the wrestling world as Rebel, has been diagnosed with ALS, a terminal neurodegenerative disease. This announcement has garnered widespread support from the wrestling community, with notable figures such as Matt Hardy, Alexa Bliss, and Shane 'Hurricane' Helms expressing their solidarity. Brooks, who has been absent from AEW programming since August 2022, thanked AEW CEO Tony Khan and the company for their support during her medical journey. Her diagnosis was revealed on May 1, coinciding with the start of ALS Awareness Month. Brooks had previously been diagnosed with primary pulmonary lymphoma in November 2025, and the ALS diagnosis was made while she was preparing for surgery related to her cancer treatment.
