Midwest Faces Historic Flooding and Severe Weather Threats
The Midwest is grappling with historic flooding following record-breaking rainfall earlier this week. Indiana has been particularly hard-hit, with neighborhoods submerged and rivers overflowing. The National Weather Service (NWS) has placed 36 million people under flood alerts across Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Tennessee. Rainfall totals in some areas have exceeded 11 inches in just over a day, with more heavy rain, strong winds, and hail expected through the week. Indiana Governor Mike Braun has declared a disaster emergency, and power outages have affected 250,000 residents in Indiana and Illinois. At least three fatalities have been reported due to the severe weather.
