National Weather Service Issues Winter Storm Watch for Massachusetts with Potential Heavy Snowfall
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch and a winter weather advisory for parts of Massachusetts in anticipation of a significant snowstorm. The affected areas include Essex County, with cities such as Lawrence and Gloucester, where the storm watch is in effect from late Friday night through Saturday evening. The Boston 25 Weather team forecasts that these regions could receive between 3 to 6 inches of snow, with isolated areas potentially seeing up to 8 inches. Additionally, a winter weather advisory is in place for Barnstable, Dukes, and Nantucket counties from 4 a.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Sunday, where snow accumulations could range from 2 to 4 inches, with some spots possibly receiving up to 6 inches. Wind gusts in these areas could reach up to 40 mph. An extreme cold warning is also issued for central and western Massachusetts, with wind chills possibly dropping to -30 degrees on Sunday.
