Prosecutors Drop Felony Charge Against Penn State Hockey Player Gavin McKenna
Prosecutors in Centre County have decided to drop the felony aggravated assault charge against Penn State hockey player Gavin McKenna. The Pennsylvania Office of the District Attorney announced this decision following a review of video evidence related to an alleged altercation in downtown State College. The incident, which occurred on South Pugh Street, involved McKenna allegedly striking a 21-year-old, resulting in facial injuries that required surgery. After reviewing the evidence, authorities concluded that it did not support the original charge of aggravated assault. However, McKenna will still face misdemeanor simple assault and other summary charges. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 11.
