Portland Health Club Crash Results in One Fatality and Discovery of Explosive Devices
A vehicle crash at the Multnomah Athletic Club in Portland, Oregon, resulted in one fatality early Saturday morning. The incident occurred around 3 a.m. when a vehicle crashed into the club, which was closed at the time. The Portland Police Bureau Chief, Bob Day, described the event as isolated. During the investigation, authorities discovered explosive devices, some of which had detonated. Jim DeFrain, a police officer and supervisor of the Metro Explosive Disposal Unit, reported that propane tanks were among the items found, suggesting that the explosive materials were brought in by the vehicle. The deceased individual was found inside the vehicle after the fire was extinguished. No club members or staff were injured in the incident.
