Lincoln Nonprofit Domesti-PUPS Suffers HVAC System Theft, Community Rallies Support
Domesti-PUPS, a nonprofit organization in Lincoln, Nebraska, experienced the theft of its HVAC system on a recent Saturday morning. Volunteers discovered the building's temperature in the 80s despite the air conditioning being turned on the previous night, leading to the realization that the AC units had been stolen. Merri Hackbarth, Domesti-PUPS service dog program director, believes the older units were targeted for their copper content. The theft has left the nonprofit without air conditioning, impacting their operations, particularly for training sessions held within the building. In response to the incident, the community has shown an outpouring of support for Domesti-PUPS.
