According to Goldman, actual instances of voter fraud are exceedingly rare, yet these claims are being leveraged to intimidate and suppress voter participation. A recent incident in Ohio, where FBI agents followed the children of a voter-registration worker, exemplifies the tactics being used to instill fear. The Ohio Organizing Collaborative, a nonpartisan group focused on voter registration, was targeted in a raid under the pretext of investigating voter fraud. This incident is part of a broader pattern of actions aimed at raising the cost of democratic participation and threatening civil society organizations that play a crucial role in facilitating voter engagement.
