Florida House Sitter Arrested for Allegedly Stealing and Causing Death of Airman's Dog
A house sitter, Andrew Jansen, has been arrested in Miami-Dade County after allegedly stealing a U.S. airman's dog and car while the airman was deployed overseas. The dog, an 11-year-old husky named Maverick, was found dead inside the abandoned vehicle in Aurora, Colorado. Jansen was hired through TrustedHouseSitters to care for the dog and the airman's home. He was captured on doorbell footage taking the dog and driving off in the airman's car. The airman, Andrew Beckham, reported the incident to the police after losing contact with Jansen. The dog was later found deceased in the car, which was abandoned in a luxury apartment complex's garage. Jansen is facing charges of felony motor vehicle theft and general theft.
