Florida Waterways Identified as Major Bacteria Hot Spots in U.S. Environmental Report
A recent environmental study by the Surfrider Foundation has identified three Florida sites as major bacteria hot spots in the U.S., with the Park View Kayak Launch in Miami Beach being the most affected. The site recorded a 92 percent bacteria rate, indicating that less than 10 percent of water samples met the Florida Department of Health's quality standards over the past year. The kayak launch remains closed due to these findings. Other Florida locations on the list include Ballard Park in Melbourne and Margaret Pace Park in Miami, with bacteria rates of 76 percent and 64 percent, respectively. The report aims to raise awareness about water quality issues that could pose health risks to the public.
