Denver Food Truck Owner Hospitalized After Crash Involving Stolen Truck, Community Rallies Support
Alphonso Campbell, owner of AFC Wings and Fish, a Denver soul food business, is currently hospitalized and facing a lengthy recovery period after being involved in a car crash on August 28. Denver police reported that Campbell was in a T-bone collision with a stolen truck near Colorado and 35th Avenue. Aurora police had been pursuing the confirmed stolen Ford F-350 but called off the chase due to public safety concerns once it entered Denver. Aurora officers were not in the vicinity when the crash occurred. Campbell's sister, Aleea Campbell, stated that he is awake but remains in critical condition, requiring multiple surgeries and months of rehabilitation. Alphonso Campbell is known in the community as a former baseball coach at Northfield High School who later pursued his dream of business ownership, maintaining deep community roots. Djanne Smith, general manager at AFC Wings, highlighted Campbell's significant influence as both a person and a businessman.
