Flash Flood Threat Across Southeast as Tropical Storms Persist
Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are expected to continue across the Southeast U.S. due to a persistent tropical weather system, according to the New York Post. The system, fueled by deep tropical moisture from the Gulf and Atlantic, has already caused flash flood threats in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. A Level 1 flash flood risk extends from eastern Kansas to the Gulf Coast and the Atlantic coasts of Georgia and South Carolina. Northern Georgia, including Atlanta, faces a more significant Level 2 threat due to saturated soils from earlier storms. Rainfall totals are forecast to reach 2–3 inches in coastal South Carolina and Georgia, with some areas potentially receiving up to 5 inches by next Thursday.
