A chemical leak at the Nippon Dynawave Packaging Company in Longview, Washington, has resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries. The incident involved a rupture of a tank containing white liquor, a highly alkaline solution used in paper manufacturing. The rupture led to critical injuries among nine company employees and one firefighter. The company, a subsidiary of Japan's Nippon Paper Group, produces billions of single-serve containers annually. Despite the severity of the incident, officials have stated there is no threat to the public.
