Tornadoes Strike Mississippi, Damaging 500 Homes and Injuring 17
Severe storms, including at least three confirmed tornadoes, swept through Mississippi on Wednesday night, causing widespread damage across Lincoln, Lamar, and Lawrence counties. Approximately 500 homes were damaged, and 17 people sustained injuries, with 12 transported from a mobile home park in Bogue Chitto. The storms uprooted trees, destroyed mobile homes, and left debris scattered across affected areas. Lincoln County reported 200 damaged homes, while Lamar County saw 275 homes impacted. Emergency response efforts are underway, coordinated by Governor Tate Reeves and the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency. Additional tornado threats are forecast for Thursday across Alabama, Georgia, Florida, the Carolinas, and Texas.
