Woman Shares Breast Cancer Story to Urge Early Detection Amidst Terminal Diagnosis
Whitney Brooks, a 34-year-old woman from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is sharing her personal battle with breast cancer to encourage others to prioritize early detection. Brooks was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer at age 27 after discovering a lump at 25, which she initially dismissed as a boil. Her wife, Dana Foreman, eventually urged her to seek medical attention. The disease has since progressed to Stage 4, spreading throughout her body and severely impacting her mobility and independence. Brooks was placed on hospice in July with a 90-day prognosis. Despite her terminal condition, she is using her remaining time to advocate for awareness, emphasizing that cancer has no age limit and urging women not to let fear delay seeking medical advice for any bodily changes.
