Sixteen Dogs Rescued from Abandoned Newark Home in Severely Matted Condition
Sixteen small dogs were rescued from an abandoned home in Newark, New Jersey, after being left by their owner approximately a month prior. The dogs were found in severely matted conditions, indicating a prolonged period without proper care. According to the Associated Humane Societies (AHS), some of the dogs required sedation to address the extensive matting, while younger pups, only a few months old, will need time to adjust to their new lives. Neighbors had attempted to provide some assistance, but the dogs' conditions necessitated professional intervention. Danielle Mania, COO of AHS, stated that the dogs are now safe and receiving the necessary medical and grooming care. Once medically cleared, these dogs will be made available for adoption, marking a new chapter for them after their neglect.
