UFC Arena Construction on White House Lawn for Trump’s 80th Birthday Celebration
Construction is underway on the White House lawn for an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) arena, set to host a cage match on June 14. This event is part of the celebrations for the United States' 250th anniversary and President Trump's 80th birthday. The temporary structure will feature a 5,000-seat arena, complete with a wire-mesh-fence-ringed octagon, a red, white, and blue stage, and large screens for live action. The event will include two title fights: a lightweight championship between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje, and an interim heavyweight title fight between Alex Pereira and Ciryl Gane. President Trump, a known fan of mixed martial arts and a friend of UFC President Dana White, first proposed the idea last year. The construction has caused some disruption, notably affecting the Scripps National Spelling Bee, which had to navigate around the site.
