Philip Denman, Esteemed Virginia Lawyer and Community Leader, Passes Away at 95
Philip Gerald Denman, a respected lawyer and community leader, passed away on May 17, 2026, in Fairfax, Virginia, at the age of 95. Born in Keighley, England, Denman moved to the United States where he attended McBurney Preparatory School in New York City and later the College of William & Mary. He served in the US Army during the Korean War before completing his law degree at the W&M School of Law in 1958. Denman had a distinguished legal career at the law firm of Willcox Savage until his retirement in 1995. He held several prominent positions, including president of the Virginia Beach Bar Association and chairman of the Virginia State Bar Committee on Lawyer Discipline. Denman was also actively involved in various bar associations and community organizations, reflecting his commitment to the legal profession and public service.
