Joseph Savarino Charged with Felony in Fatal Durham Bicycle Crash
Joseph Savarino, the grandson of Duke basketball legend Mike Krzyzewski, is facing serious legal charges following a fatal accident in Durham, North Carolina. The 26-year-old has been charged with felony death by motor vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, and failure to reduce speed after an incident on April 18, where he allegedly struck and killed 15-year-old Jack O'Shea, who was riding an electronic bicycle. The crash occurred near the intersection of Cole Mill Road and Wyndham Lane. Initial charges against Savarino included a misdemeanor for driving while impaired, as his blood alcohol content was recorded at 0.11 during a breathalyzer test conducted shortly after the incident. Savarino admitted to consuming alcohol earlier that night. In response to the charges, a judge has ordered the revocation of Savarino's driver's license.
