American Legion National Commander Advocates for Take Care of America's Veterans Act (TCAVA)
During The American Legion National Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, National Commander Dan K. Wiley addressed the Legion’s Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation Commission, urging support for the Take Care of America's Veterans Act (TCAVA). Wiley emphasized that TCAVA is the most viable legislative route for securing comprehensive benefits for veterans, despite other proposed acts like the Major Richard Star Act facing political hurdles in the Senate. TCAVA encompasses 62 priorities, including the Major Richard Star Act, the Love Lives On Act, the VITAL Act, the HONOR Act, and the SAVES Act, all aimed at delivering benefits, healthcare, education, and essential services to combat-injured veterans, surviving spouses, and families. Wiley highlighted the significant influence of The American Legion on Capitol Hill, noting that its staff has testified 49 times before Congress this year and reviewed over 500 bills.
