Despite taking a 6-2 loss to the host Washington Capitals on Saturday, the Buffalo Sabres ended their NHL-record 14-year postseason drought on Saturday thanks to Detroit's regulation loss to the New York Rangers earlier in the day. Logan Thompson made 37 saves for Washington in the convincing win.
