Hurricane Polo Remnants Bring Flood Risk to Colorado
The remnants of Hurricane Polo, a former Category 5 hurricane, are set to impact Colorado this week, intensifying the state’s monsoon season. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flood watch for much of southern and south-central Colorado starting Tuesday, with some areas expected to receive up to 3 inches (76 mm) of rain. The strongest activity is anticipated east of Denver and south of the Palmer Divide, including the San Luis Valley, where rainfall totals could reach 5 to 6 inches (127 to 152 mm). The storm is expected to linger through Thursday, bringing prolonged rainfall to the region.
