Wisconsin Democratic Primary Kicks Off Amidst Chaotic Governor's Race
Early in-person voting has commenced in Wisconsin for the Democratic primary in the governor's race, marked by a lack of consensus among Democrats on a single candidate. The primary features five candidates, including democratic socialist Francesca Hong and former Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes. Hong has strong support from the liberal wing, while Barnes is banking on support from Milwaukee voters. Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, who re-entered the race after initially dropping out, is endorsed by Gov. Tony Evers. The primary winner will face Republican U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany, who has President Trump's backing. Additionally, a lawsuit seeks to allow voters to cancel and recast absentee ballots due to changes in the candidate lineup.
