Portland's Bull Run Filtration Facility Achieves Envision Platinum Award for Sustainability
The Bull Run Filtration Facility in Portland has been awarded the Envision Platinum Award by the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure, recognizing its commitment to sustainability and resilience. The facility, designed to supply drinking water to nearly a quarter of Oregon's population, will treat up to 135 million gallons per day, with potential expansion to 220 million gallons. The project incorporates advanced treatment technologies and sustainability features, such as a zero-liquid discharge system and gravity-fed conveyance, to enhance system resilience and reduce energy use. The facility is part of Portland's broader efforts to invest in sustainable infrastructure and ensure reliable water supply while addressing environmental and social needs.
