Blazing Heat and Fire Weather Persist Across Oklahoma
Oklahoma continues to experience extreme heat, with temperatures climbing into the triple digits (above 100°F/37.8°C) statewide. Heat indices are expected to be even higher, prompting Heat Advisories and Excessive Heat Warnings across the region. A south wind gusting up to 35 mph is contributing to dry conditions, which, combined with the heat, are elevating fire risks, particularly in western Oklahoma. While a few isolated storms may develop in far-western and northwestern Oklahoma, most areas will remain dry. Lightning from these storms could pose additional fire hazards. The heat is expected to persist into Friday and beyond, with no significant relief in sight.
