India's Monsoon Season Sees Mixed Weather Patterns Amidst Withdrawal
India is experiencing a mixed weather pattern as the Southwest Monsoon continues its withdrawal. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), conditions are favorable for the monsoon to retreat further from eastern India, the northern Peninsula, and parts of northeast India over the next three to four days. The monsoon has already withdrawn from Maharashtra, parts of Goa, Karnataka, Telangana, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh as of October 8. Despite the withdrawal, rainfall is not expected to cease immediately. Isolated heavy rainfall is forecast for Uttarakhand, with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds also possible. Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Punjab are expected to see scattered rainfall between October 8-14. West Uttar Pradesh may experience isolated to scattered rainfall through October 11, while East Uttar Pradesh could receive rain through October 10.
